In 1989, in the newspaper "Nedelya" biologist Alexander Arefiev stated:

“… the poltergeist clearly gravitates towards a quiet, comfortable home environment, often in old houses, with the presence of blind and eccentric grandparents. Plates are lit by themselves, switches are turned on, locks are opened, latches are latched, and so on. God forbid such a "poltergeist" to be at the control panel of a nuclear reactor or a combat rocket launcher, in a fuel or ammunition depot! But he's not there. There is no it in factories either: discipline, you will not indulge."

Contrary to the assertion of Mr. Arefiev, army poltergeistsstill occur, as well as industrial, despite the harsh discipline. The earliest known army poltergeist to date occurred in the winter of 1643/44, during the British Civil War.

Then a small garrison of government troops was located in one of the Irish castles, and the soldiers were annoyed by poltergeists, "like creatures in white shirts," who pulled the blankets off the servicemen and did them all sorts of other dirty tricks. One of the soldiers, going down to the basement, somehow found his colleague, scared to death by evil spirits, at the bottom of the barrel with a candle in his hands, after which the entire garrison urgently left this terrible place …

You can also recall the poltergeist of 1722 in the St. Petersburg Trinity Church, where noisy spirits were playing pranks in the presence of soldiers-sentries. And on January 10, 1906, "restless phenomena" began in the army fortress of Vincennes, located at the entrance to Paris.

There, among the barracks, there was an armory, in one of the rooms of which a watchman lived. At 4 o'clock in the morning, he was awakened by the noise from a brick wall. Then strange sounds began to be heard every night, and at the same hours. The watchman reported this to his superiors. The highest military ranks came, but their intervention did not end in anything. The disorder continued despite all the severity.

Unfortunately, the paucity of descriptions of most army poltergeists does not allow identifying the carrier, with the exception of the 1990-1991 outbreak in the Bulgarian army.

It is described in detail in the Bulgarian magazine "5 F" for 1991 and in the newspaper "Izvestia" on February 22, 1991 (article "Counterintelligence catches" evil spirits ").

It all started around half past nine in the evening on January 18, 1990. Ivan Khristozkov, a private of one of the military units of the Bulgarian army, a mustachioed, healthy and broad-shouldered soldier, stood at his post, guarding the important object entrusted to him.

Suddenly, over one of the nearby hills, at a distance of about a kilometer, he saw two balls glowing in yellow and light green. They either approached him at a distance of 40-45 meters, then moved away.

When they were close, the skin burned, and there was a hum in my head. And then a bunch of small stones hit Ivan! He thought, his friends were joking, looked around, but did not notice anyone. The rumble in his head intensified, and from somewhere above, out of the darkness, stones suddenly began to fall on him - one larger than the other. Ivan called the attendant, and immediately a stone the size of a handball fell on him! Ivan, however, felt only a light touch.

The officer on duty, having decided that an attack was being made on the post, on an alarm signal called the whole unit for help. But this did not stop the "attackers": Ivan's helmet rang from the blows of stones, like an empty tank! The soldiers began to sweep the surroundings in a chain. At this time, stones were thrown at them from all sides - from above, to the left, to the right. They even "jumped" from the ground. Fire was opened on the invisible enemy. But the stones continued to hit the soldiers with great precision.

On the next day, by order of the commander, the guard remained in the room. Ivan, of course, too. That is, they guarded the object while in the room. But the shelling of cobblestones resumed, and with such force that the platform in front of the guardhouse was almost heaped with stones. We decided to leave the stones until the morning, so that they could then be given for research. However, at dawn, it is not clear how all the stones disappeared. The duty officer reported that he observed them exactly until 6.00, and then the object of observation seemed to evaporate …

On the third day, military counterintelligence joined the action. The search area was illuminated as in the day. Vehicles were prepared to capture the annoying intruder. And Ivan was placed in a specially constructed metal booth. The military operations were commanded by military officials from the Higher Military Academy in Sofia and military counterintelligence. The soldiers, shooting, walked in a chain. But the "intruder" turned out to be smarter than they thought about him. He hid.

Only Ivan saw one of the two glowing balls that appeared on the very first evening, and a cobblestone fell on the roof of his booth.

Another, heavier - about 40x40 centimeters! - fell on the roof of the bus, where the counterintelligence officers were hiding. He rolled down, leaving no trace on the roof.

The first "series" lasted eight evenings, then everything was quiet. In August 1990, the second began. It was decided to transfer Ivan to another unit, but after three days everything was resumed in a new place. Then it was quiet. And in February 1991, stones flew around Ivan again!

When this happened for the first time, few believed in the reality of what was happening. Allegations of alcohol abuse and even insanity were voiced. The commander blamed the duty officer, and the commander himself was accused of the same by the superiors.

In August 1990, when it all started for the second time, it was decided to send Ivan for examination at the Military Medical Academy in Sofia. The foreman, who was sent together with Ivan to personally hand him over to the Aesculapians and explain the reason for sending him for examination, almost got to the psychiatrists himself: his explanations were too unusual …

Ivan spent twenty days at the Military Medical Academy. Colonel Emil Kaludiev, deputy head of the academy's psychiatric clinic, spoke about the results of the examination. His conclusion:

Ivan is a completely healthy person in all respects. Kaludiev's attention was attracted by unexplained irregularities in the operation of the equipment during Ivan's stay at the clinic. For example, the magnetic recording of the biocurrents of Ivan's brain and heart was not obtained. Kaludiev witnessed the flight of a cup of coffee from the doctor's office to the ward where he, the nurse and Ivan were. Many clinic staff have seen similar phenomena. There are witnesses, Kaludiev said, in the unit where Ivan served.

The testimony of these witnesses is very interesting. So, the foreman complained that the soldiers, frightened by the stones, refused to be in the dormitory. A stone, according to his observations, can, falling vertically, near the ground, change the direction of flight to horizontal and immediately hit a person in the popliteal cavity.

When a stone falls to the ground, but with force, it sometimes does not roll on the ground, but as if glued to it. In the room where Ivan lived, glass and glass jars were broken by stones flying in and out of it. Sometimes the phone stopped working, the power supply was cut off.

Another witness, a senior sergeant, wondered how stones could fly into a room closed on all sides. He was surprised that only the last moment of the falling of the stones was visible. And once on the parade ground, in complete calm, ringing, a metal can of wax was rolling back and forth …

And Ivan himself says that before something happens, he experiences a strong hum in his head. Then surprises begin: stones, electric lamps, bottles, bricks, pieces of gypsum and asphalt appear and fall around it. And once in the kitchen they noticed that the head of a nail recessed into the table warmed up to redness!

Filled with water, it hissed and evaporated. And the tree didn't even smoke. They took out the nail, to the touch it turned out to be cold, blue. Ivan was surprised by this peculiarity of the flight of stones: they can fly at a person with a very high speed, but when they approach, they deviate, as if bypassing the person, and fly further.

The editorial board of the magazine "5 F" asks the question: what if something like this suddenly starts at an important command post of the army, stuffed with all kinds of electronics? What a panic will be caused there! In theory, this is possible, but it’s scary to think about the consequences.

In May 1991, such an authoritative and serious newspaper as Shield and Sword, by no means inclined to jokes, reported that the poltergeist had also reached the servicemen of the internal troops of the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs. Here is this article ("The drummer in the barracks"):

“This morning began unusually for the company commander of the internal troops, Senior Lieutenant Vetrov. From the report of sergeant A. Botnarenko, duty officer of the company, he learned that at night the unit was visited by "evil spirits".

It all started after lights out, at about one in the morning. The general notebook of the company officer on duty fell out of the nightstand with a noise for no apparent reason. The barracks dormitory filled with rustling and tapping. The duty officer and private Turaev were surprised to see slippers flying in the aisle between the beds.

When the bedside tables began to overturn and the awakened soldiers began to raise their heads from the pillows, the sergeant decided to report what was happening to the unit duty officer. Imagine the surprise of him and the other orderlies when they saw that the phone fell to the floor and remained standing on the sharp side edge. At the same time, the tube did not fall.

Having listened to the vague and confused report of the frightened sergeant, the duty officer, Captain V. Ivanov, went up to the barracks.

Half of the company was no longer sleeping, discussing the incident noisily. The officer did not see anything special and, apart from the emotional story of the duty officer, did not hear. After waiting a little, the officer withdrew. The lights were turned off, the soldiers lay in bed.

The orderly Markar, who was awakened to change, did not believe in what had happened. But after a while he also had to be convinced of miracles.

Private Botizat, who was sleeping on his back, had his legs lifted up at a right angle and rested against the bed of the second tier. Alexander continued to sleep peacefully and in such an exotic position.

Loud noise was heard in the washroom. Alarmed, soldiers from a neighboring unit came running. And who pushed aside the heavy bolt with which the company officer on duty locked the door with his own hand? Later, the sergeant confesses that in the corridor, when no one saw, he crossed himself. Did not help. And when Private Markar saw through the lattice of the weapons storage room that the boxes with gas masks were about a meter off the floor, he also believed in "devilry". They turned on the full lighting - the boxes smoothly lowered to the floor.

Again they reported to the duty officer. This time Captain Ivanov went up to the barracks not alone, but with the chief of the internal guard, Lieutenant S. Zhur-nevich. Entering the room, the officers saw that all the orderlies were huddled near the weapons storage room, more than half of the company was awake, and soldiers from the neighboring company were crowding in the barracks. We checked the weapons - everything is in place.

Suddenly frightened servicemen jumped out of the toilet, shouting: "There are garbage cans jumping!" The noise of falling metal urns was heard from the toilet. Lieutenant Zhurnevich headed there, but when he crossed the threshold, the officer slammed the door. It took a significant effort to free myself.

Realizing that people could not be put to sleep anymore, the duty officer tried to calm the soldiers down. Permitting the lights to remain on, puzzled, he left. Everything was calm for a while. Suddenly, in front of everyone's eyes, one of the plafonds burst with a slight pop. The fragments from it, according to eyewitnesses, fell smoothly, "like in slow motion."

The next night passed quietly. So, did the poltergeist and the "bastards" get to the internal troops?

In the unit of Senior Lieutenant Vetrov, an official investigation was carried out with the involvement of doctors of the unit's medical center. All servicemen were recognized as healthy, no mental abnormalities were recorded. Their service continues."

Unfortunately, the internal investigation did not reveal the bearer of all this devilry - most likely those who carried it out had no idea about it. So the undetected carrier can baffle the bosses and colleagues for a long time.

And here is what the Mir Novostey newspaper reported in the issue of December 9, 1996:

“Recently, the rank and file on guard in one of the premises of the Khamovniki barracks, being in good health and sober mind, heard strange noises, slurred conversations and loud laughter in one of the premises of the barracks.

Deciding that someone had decided to play a trick on them, the soldiers broke the lock, ran into the room … and saw no one there. Meanwhile, strange sounds and laughter continued to be heard from somewhere from the ceiling.

Frightened by this circumstance, the sentries quickly retreated from the premises and called for help … a whole regiment of soldiers. But when they, along with the officers, appeared, the ghost, probably very frightened, evaporated. Having laughed at the "hallucinations" of the guard, which their comrades attributed to a sleepless stormy night spent drinking, the soldiers and officers retired to the barracks.

Exactly a week later, the same incident happened all in the same room, but with a different guard. The ghost howled, hummed and laughed harder than ever. True, this time the guard, fearing to be the object of ridicule of colleagues, did not wake up the regiment, but locked the unfortunate door with one more lock.

The next day, the deputy commander of the detachment had to conduct a special conversation, during which the soldiers heard the legend about the ghosts - the soldiers who lived in these barracks in 1801 and refused to obey the commands of their officers. For this they were severely punished. Apparently, it is so harsh that their souls still cannot calm down, stirring up the sleep of those who today serve in the Khamovniki barracks at night."

This case, judging by the description, most likely refers to the phenomenon of restless houses - here we meet with an anomalous phenomenon that is not tied to a person, but to a place. True, the poor servicemen, if they find out about this, will hardly be easier …
