Local authorities in the US state of Massachusetts decided to ban "synthetic bath salts" after scientists said that these inexpensive and affordable drugs have already caused inappropriate behavior in several American "zombies".

The appearance in the United States of people attacking each other caused a wide resonance after a story in Florida, where in broad daylight a man attacked a bystander and began to bite his face.

The police officers shot him, as they faced such a case for the first time and did not know how to react.

A number of scientists after that began to talk about the beginning of the "zombie apocalypse", later experts found out that the cannibal who attacked the man was using amphetamines, known as "bath salts". The drugs included in the "salt" category are equated to narcotic drugs only in the Czech Republic, Denmark and Sweden.

Authorities in many US states and drug therapists have noted an unusual surge in the popularity of these drugs among Americans. According to the Voice of America, over the past year, the number of people who asked for help has increased many times over. "Salt" has become the first number on the list of illegal drugs, experts say they are 13 times more powerful than cocaine.

Soon after the Florida incident, similar "zombie" attacks on people took place in Louisiana, where an American also bit another in the face, and in Miami, where a "fake zombie" bit a police car.

Bath salts include a variety of drugs that are a type of synthetic cocaine. It can cause paranoia and hallucinations, as well as provoke unreasonable aggression. At the same time, the police cannot claim that these drugs are the reason for the attacks of people on each other.

“It cannot be argued that the 'zombies' used salt, as no medical examination was carried out prior to their arrest,” a police spokesman said.

Last year, Americans received a memo from the authorities on how to prepare for a zombie invasion … An article with quite serious advice was posted on its page by the US Department of Health Agency - the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
