Coral Polge (Coral Polge) was a visionist painter and specialized in portraits of ordinary people, however, already departed to another world.

At the same time, she did not use photographs or any other means, but painted on a whim, "Feeling their presence".

“It worked,” according to the artist, “involuntarily, like breathing or walking.”

It should be noted that Coral Polge studied painting at one time, but was considered "hopeless" in terms of portraiture and specialized in fabric patterns.

But she was keenly interested in spiritualism and became a medium capable of painting a portrait of a deceased relative, friend or lover of her client.

At the same time, she refused to make portraits of the deceased to order, since, according to the artist, this erected barriers in the path of spirits, and therefore she painted only those "who have already made their way to her."

Coral Polge was distinguished by an extraordinary fertility in her work and achieved a striking resemblance of the portrait to the original. It has been calculated that in 20 years (from 1950 to 1970) she created about 36 thousand different works, that is, an average of 35 portraits per week. The following examples testify to the artist's amazing abilities to reproduce portraits of deceased people …

One day, Polge was approached by a client who was writing a book about former UN Secretary-General Dag Hammarskjöld, who died in a 1961 plane crash.

The writer was sure that it would not be difficult for the artist to fulfill her request.

But time passed, and Coral Polge could not provide the client with the expected portrait, referring to a certain "barrier" that prevents her from coming into contact with the spirit of the deceased General Secretary. One day, to the great disappointment of the writer, Coral Polge's pencil began to reproduce the image of a little girl with wavy blond hair.

The writer was doubly disappointed, since a little earlier the spirit of Hammarskjold, summoned by another medium, promised her that she would receive his portrait from a visionist artist.

However, the disappointment lasted only until the portrait was completed and the writer recognized in it a photograph of Dag Hammarskjold, seen in some magazine, at the age of two - with long blond hair, which was typical of 1907 …

On another occasion, Coral Polge, speaking in front of an audience, sketched a portrait of an old man with a thick drooping mustache and, as always, addressed the audience with the question if any of those present knew this person. One of the women recognized him as her maternal grandfather. But she wanted more convincing evidence that she was right.

And then, concentrating, Coral Polge gave new details: the portrait was meant for someone in green. But the alleged granddaughter of the old man depicted in the portrait was not green.

However, Polge insisted that green carries a very important meaning. And then the woman remembered that her maiden name was Green (green - "green"). This finally convinced her that in front of her was a portrait of her grandfather!..

Of course, judging only by these facts, one could assume that in her ideas about the alleged appearance of the deceased, Coral Polange proceeded from the appearance of their living relatives.

But the following example completely refutes this version …

The two singers - Grace Brooks and Deirdre Den - met while working on the musical Oliver. Once through Deirdre, who possessed the ability to automatic writing, the spirit of the once-deceased singer addressed Grace. First he called himself Maria Garcia, and then - Maria Malibran.

Intrigued, Deirdre decided to find out how real this historical character was, and soon established that, indeed, Maria Malibran, née Garcia, existed. She was born in 1808 in Paris, in 1825 she made her debut in London as an opera singer, and in 1836 she died tragically as a result of a fall from a horse.

After a while, Deirdre left for Australia, and at this, Grace's contacts with Maria Malibran ended.

But then one day Grace got to the performance of Coral Polge, and she painted a portrait of a young woman with an old-style hairstyle. At the same time, the artist said that this is a portrait of a Spanish singer named Maria.

Grace Brooks turned to the British Museum, where she was shown an engraving - a lifetime portrait of Mary Malibran. The two depictions of the singer, the museum engraving and the portrait painted by Paulge, were almost indistinguishable from each other.

It is difficult to imagine that the artist, who painted 35 portraits a week, had time to investigate to impress Grace Brooks. This is all the more unlikely that Grace appeared at the artist's session absolutely by accident, as they say, on a whim.
