19-year-old Oskar Landahl fished off the coast of the Norwegian island of Annøya in the Vesterålen archipelago. He tried to catch black halibut, so he sailed from the island to a great depth, where it was more than 700 meters, and threw four hooks into the water.
Suddenly he saw a peck on one hook and when he began to pull the fish, he immediately realized that it was something very large and heavy.
The fish resisted him for half an hour, but the young Norwegian, of course, turned out to be stronger and in the end, nevertheless, pulled the catch from the sea into the boat.
And then his eyes widened, because he had never seen such a strange fish. In an interview with reporters, Landahl called her "like a dinosaur" because the fish had something like a "shell" on its body.
Most of all, in the fish, however, it was not the "shell" that was surprising, but the huge eyes that occupied almost the entire head. At the same time, the fish's tail was very narrow, and the muzzle a little resembled the muzzle of small sharks.
Later, a specialist from the Nordic Sea Angling company stated that Landahl had caught the so-called Chimaeriformes. These fish are distant relatives of sharks and are very ancient, they swam on the seas and oceans 300 million years ago.
Chimeras live at great depths up to 1 km and can reach a length of 2 meters. For humans, they are not dangerous, since their teeth are not like sharks, but in the form of chewing plates.

In appearance, Landal's catch really looks like similar fish, with the only remark - none of the chimeras have such huge eyes as Landal's fish. So either the Norwegian has caught an unknown species of chimera, or it is a mutant.
Unfortunately, Landahl did not give scientists the opportunity to study his prey. After taking a picture of it, he brought the "dinosaur fish" to his home, fried and ate it. According to him, the fish was very tasty.
