A completely surreal case took place in Khabarovsk. An unnamed family of father, mother and child of unspecified gender and age voluntarily ate capsules containing dangerous parasitic worms.

This is reported by the website of Roszdravnadzor.

The details of the incident are scanty, but it is indicated that the parents have read a lot of laudatory articles on the Internet about some "miraculous vaccines" with "the magic power of a powerful immunostimulant." After that, somewhere (probably also via the Internet) they purchased capsules or tablets with a "vaccine" containing a suspension of live larvae of worms trichinella.

Just two weeks after taking the capsules inside, the whole family ended up in the city hospital KB No. 10 in Khabarovsk in a very serious condition.

The incident is currently being investigated and it has already emerged that these "magic vaccines" were sold by a veterinarian, whose name is also not indicated.

In connection with the incident, Roszdravnadzor urges citizens to take a responsible attitude to their health: not to resort to non-traditional treatment, to use only medical devices and medicines registered in the territory of the Russian Federation, and if they feel unwell, immediately consult a doctor.

Trichinosis, which is caused by parasitic worms of Trichinella, is a very dangerous and difficult disease to treat. The sick develop swelling, fever, rash. In severe cases, the internal organs and the central nervous system are affected.

When ingested through the mouth, trichinella settle in the intestines, but then begin to spread throughout the body. Most often, they settle in the muscles, getting there through the blood vessels. Trichinella is small in size, maximum 4 mm, however, when there are many of them, they destroy muscle tissue. When the larva enters the muscle, it coils into a spiral and a special "capsule" with its own network of blood vessels is additionally formed around it.

The walls of the capsule thicken over time, growing with calcium salts and in this state the larva can live for several years. Because of this, a person experiences severe muscle and joint pain. Worst of all, when the larvae enter the central nervous system, it can cause respiratory paralysis in humans and, as a result, death.

Larvae can also get into the eyes, causing severe pain and bleeding in the eyes.

Most often, Trichinella infection occurs due to poorly roasted pig or wild boar meat.
