Residents of Ostrovsky and Kuibyshev streets in the town of Gryazi (Lipetsk region) have already been unable to leave their homes without shuddering.

-On Friday morning I left the house and was stunned, - says Galina Popova, - the whole threshold is black and moves. Looked closely, and his worms stuck. At first I thought that someone had thrown this muck on me, then it turned out that the neighbors of worms have darkness. We have never had this.

According to the observations of local residents, creeping creatures are especially active during the day, when the sun is hot. They move quickly along the road from the side of an abandoned state farm field adjacent to Ostrovsky Street, and crawl into houses with direct fire.

- I have these worms both in the kitchen and in the rooms, - another resident of Ostrovsky Street, Lyubov, cries. - It's disgusting, I'm afraid that they will crawl into the plate. I sweep it every hour, there's no point in it, but the poison doesn't take them.

The greatest number of worms was found in the forest belt, which separates the residential sector from the field. Local residents believe that the new tire plant, which began operating a few weeks ago, is to blame for this "invasion". They say that the units disturbed the rest of the worms. In the opinion of the district administration, most likely, this animal was brought here along with manure.

- This year there were very favorable conditions for the reproduction of kivsyakov worms, - explained the head. Nina OVCHINNIKOVA, Department of Zoology, Leningrad State Pedagogical University - warm and a lot of precipitation. Kivsaki love moist soil, but they cannot stand heat and cold.

They feed on ants and other small insects, but their main food is fallen leaves and plant roots. Kivsaki love manure, they process and improve it. Why the worms began to crawl into people's homes is difficult to say, perhaps their behavior was influenced by some natural anomaly, solar activity. But this has nothing to do with the construction of the plant. They are not dangerous for people, but you can only get rid of them mechanically, that is, collect and crush or burn. With the onset of cold weather, the kivsaki will die.

But if the worms get into the basements of houses, then in a few weeks they can easily ruin all the stocks of vegetables. After all, the basement is just what they need wet and cool.
