Sometimes, among the many cases of observation of mysterious creatures (cryptids), there are humanoid creatures that are very difficult to attribute to any specific category. Are they aliens or yeti, or maybe demons or ghosts, or a mysterious animal? These creatures live somewhere in our world and regularly challenge us to understand who they are.
Their appearance is very diverse. Later in this post, we will give several cases of encounters with a creature that eyewitnesses describe as looking like a person with large deer horns or looking like a two-legged deer / elk. This creature has been observed several times in different territories in the United States.
One of the cases occurred in northeastern Ohio with an eyewitness who was then 14 years old. He was playing hide and seek with his brother by a forest stream and suddenly he heard a sound, as if someone was walking on dry leaves very close. He thought it was his brother, but when he turned, he saw what at first he took for a large deer standing on its hind legs.
It was early evening and it was already starting to get dark, but the teenager had a good look that the lower legs of the creature were "like a dog", but the upper body was strangely straightened and this creature suddenly ran very quickly (direction not indicated).
The guy also rushed to run and ran home and his brother also saw this creature and was also very scared. According to the teenager, his brother is still afraid to remember what he saw that day, because the eyewitness's uncle had previously told them that strange things can be seen in these places.
A similar appearance was also seen in the state of Delaware in 1993, and a child, who was 8 years old, was also an eyewitness. He stayed with his parents at his grandparents' home in the countryside near Hockessin.
One morning the boy woke up and suddenly saw a deer with huge antlers standing in front of the window. It looked completely surreal when the deer and the boy looked at each other for a few moments and suddenly, according to the boy, the deer got up on its hind legs and turned into a man.
There were only two men in this remote area, the boy's grandfather and his father, and this man was definitely not one of them. He was very muscular and much younger than both, and also "radiated strength." The child was very scared.
"It looked at me for a moment, and then it went somewhere. Looking back again and again and remembering this event, I convince myself that all this was a morning hallucination of a child who was not fully awake. But I remember very well my feeling of awe and fear and I remember how this "deer" changed its appearance."
Another sighting of a deer man was made in 2012 in the Wichita Mountains in Oklahoma. Kayla Heying says that she and her friends went to the Wichita Mountains National Reserve to take night pictures of the starry sky. It was about 10 pm, a woman and two men were in the woods, and suddenly something unusual began to happen in nature around them.
If you remember the movie "Dreamcatcher", then these scenes will seem familiar to you. First, Kayla saw several moose run past her. Then a small herd of buffalo ran. It all looked like the animals were scared and were trying to run away from someone. Something in the dark forest frightened them greatly. People got nervous and already started packing their things to go home.
Then the three people heard the silence around them in the forest. It was a depressing deathly silence. And suddenly Kayla's companions heard a sound, as if someone was walking in the tall grass. Kayla and her companions had rifles with them in case of meeting with predators and now they got them, but then they decided to get into their car and leave.
As they began to move, all three suddenly saw a walking creature ahead of the car that they would never forget again. Kayla Haying describes him as a moose standing upright on human legs with two human arms and bright red eyes. This creature was going to attack their car and then the people hit the gas and left the forest as quickly as they could.
"We were scared to death. When we finally stopped, there was a terrible scream or squeal from the forest that hurt my ears and gave me goosebumps. I can't forget that. It wasn't human or animal."
Surprisingly, they knew about the existence of a deer man living in the forests a thousand years ago and considered him a deity. Especially famous is the Celtic god named Cernunos or Cernunnos with antlers. He was revered in what is now France and Britain and is often depicted as a peaceful animal lord.
Herne the hunter is also famous. It is usually associated with Windsor Forest (Berkshire). He was presented as a ghost wearing antlers on his head. Herne is believed to be the local Berkshire hypostasis of Cernunnos.
