Is it true that in the early 1980s, in a small town in New Jersey, sect members created a Gateway to another world and went there several times? And as if the government found out about this and took the town by storm, after which everything was thoroughly cleaned up
Tiny ghost town Ong's hat (Ong's Hat) is one of the many abandoned old settlements scattered across the US state of New Jersey and stands out only for its unusual name.
By the middle of the 19th century, it was quite lively, as smugglers actively traded here, supplying alcohol to other American states. But by the beginning of the twentieth century, it began to fall into desolation, and by 1930 it was completely abandoned altogether.
Nowadays, you can find here only badly destroyed wooden buildings, overgrown with bushes and trees. And he would have remained forgotten by God, if not for the book "Hat Ong: The Beginning", written Joseph Matheny and released in 2002.
The book was based on an urban legend that in 1978, a man named Wali Ferd (Wali Fard) bought 200 acres of land in the Ong Hat area and settled there with several of his followers.
Wali Ferd was allegedly a member of the secret cult of the Moorish Orthodox Church of America and that earlier he allegedly made a great trip around the world, studying various philosophical and magical practices and spiritualistic techniques, having visited such exotic places as India, Afghanistan, Persia, etc.
He settled in the Ong Hat with several young men and two anarchist girls, but then he began to spread the teachings of his sect in the vicinity and attracted many supporters. Among them were two odd scientists Althea and Frank Dobbs - a sister and brother who grew up in a community of UFO fans.
Before joining the Ferd cult, they worked at Princeton University and there they conducted some unusual research on unused parts of the human brain that could reveal human potential in the form of a wide range of abilities - extrasensory perception, telepathy, self-healing, and even the suspension of aging.
However, this was called quackery and marginal practices among other scholars, so the Dobbs were soon kicked out of the university.
When the Dobbs moved to Ong's Hat, there they took over an abandoned barn and created their new laboratory in it, where they continued their unusual experiments. Now they could do whatever they wanted without paying attention to critics. Ferd became interested in their work and gave them a lot of money, and also brought two more scientists to them - Harold Acton and Martin Kallikak.
All four began to work hard to unleash the potential of the human brain, creating various psychedelic drugs for this and analyzing brain activity after their use. They also created some unusual devices and machines, among which was the so-called "Egg".
It was a slightly modified sensory deprivation chamber, connected to computers and equipped with electrodes that were connected to the head of the person in this chamber through a special helmet. Then several more such chambers were created and being in them supposedly saved a person from diseases or accelerated cure.
The purpose of the third modification of these cameras was to connect the human consciousness with the quantum level in order to carry out the actual movement into parallel dimensions. However, this was not crowned with success, so modification 4 "Eggs" was created. It was first tested on one of Ferd's most devoted devotees, Keith.
During the experiment, the camera with Keith suddenly disappeared in front of everyone, and after 7 minutes it reappeared. Keith got out of it and was agitated, and then said that he had been in another dimension.
Ferd's scientists rejoiced, they managed to create a portal to another world! They called it the Gate, and then several more temporary transfers were made to another reality. Those who have been there described the world as teeming with plants and lakes, but completely without people.
And then the following happened. In the Fort Dix military base located near the Ong Hat, a leak of dangerous material occurred and the Wali Ferd sect, instead of evacuating it, chose to go to another world through the Gateway. It was then that the US authorities allegedly learned about what kind of experiments were carried out in the Ong Hat, after which troops were sent here.
The soldiers began to storm the settlement of Ferda, as a result of which several people died. What happened next to Ferd, his scientists and their machines is unknown.
According to Matheny, who described all this, he received information about these events from documents that accidentally fell into his hands, and then found one of the scientists who worked on the creation of the Gate alive.
Most, of course, believe that this is all just fiction and Matheny's book is actually just a science fiction composition. However, the legend of such events in the Ong Hat is not really Matheny's invention, but a real urban legend that has circulated in New Jersey since the early 1980s. That is, in terms of time, approximately immediately after the authorities stormed the Ong Hat sect.
Another thing is that apart from this legend, there is no actual evidence of the existence of the Wali Ferd sect in the Ong Hat, and even more so a laboratory with some high-tech machines. However, in this regard, there is a conspiracy theory that the authorities simply cleaned everything up, and the eyewitnesses were bribed or intimidated.
