An unusual snake-like creature is depicted in a 12th century drawing found by archaeologists in the medieval Cathedral of Pereslavl-Zalessky in the Yaroslavl region
On the wall of the Transfiguration Cathedral in the city of Pereslavl-Zalessky (Yaroslavl Region, Russia), a rare drawing in the form of an incomprehensible animal was found.
The drawing, dating from the 12th century AD, depicts something with a fish tail, a long snake-like body, and a bird's head. Below is a figure of a man who holds this creature with one hand above his head.
It looks as if the person has just overcome this creature and shows it to others.

To the left of the picture is the text, from which so far only the last line has been disassembled "but not everyone is okay. Ignat wrote." The rest of the text looks like a mysterious sequence of five letters that the researchers were unable to decipher.
The drawing and the inscription to it were discovered by archaeologists from the Institute of Archeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, who studied the Transfiguration Cathedral - one of the oldest temples in Russia of the pre-Mongol period.

"We have before us a rare example of images of fantastic creatures, according to legend, lived in distant countries. Similar images are in Western European miniatures of medieval times, but they were not widely known in Russia. The drawing may also be an allegory," the website of the Institute of Archeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences reported.
On the same wall block on which the drawing and inscription were found, there are still images of crosses. On the neighboring blocks you can also find crosses and various inscriptions like "Lazor wrote". They also date back to the 12th century.

Scientists Have Discovered The Oldest Footprints Of A Living Creature
Traces of an ancient arthropod found in the state of Nevada (USA) indicate that living creatures used limbs for movement at least 30 million years earlier than previously thought. A report on the Nevada find by Ohio University Professor Loren Babcock and colleagues was presented at a meeting of the Geological Society of America in Houston. The tracks are two parallel rows of small dots, each about 2 millimeters in diameter, dating back
