All of these stories serve to remind us once again that there is a real darkness in our world, far beyond what our imaginations can create.

Child of wrath

Beth Thomas's story is as heartbreaking as it is terrifying. She was a beautiful little girl with striking blue eyes who lost her mother at the age of 1. Beth and her younger brother Jonothan stayed with their biological father, who committed sexual assault with them.

Beth was one and a half years old, and her brother was 7 months old when strangers found out about it and the children were taken away by the protection service. Both of them were immediately adopted by a childless couple, but very soon they realized that Beth had something wrong with the psyche. Later, the documentary "Child of rage" was filmed based on this story, which tells about the very anxious and extremely aggressive behavior of a little girl.

Beth's adoptive parents were so afraid of her that they locked her up at night so that she would not stab them in their sleep. During the time spent in the first adoptive family, Beth herself raped her younger brother Jonothan, pricked him with pins, tortured the family dog, and killed the chicks she found in the nest. One day, she attacked Jonothan and violently beat his head on the concrete floor in an attempt to kill him.

Initially, Beth's outbursts of anger went unnoticed, but then they began to occur so often that the adoptive parents took the girl to a psychologist. In the documentary, there is a moment when a psychologist asks a girl about a knife missing from the kitchen. "It's big and sharp," Beth replies. “What were you going to do with him?” The doctor asks again. Kill Jonothan Mom and Dad.

Psychotherapist Connell Watkins worked with Bell for about a year, and gradually her condition began to improve. She expressed sympathy for her brother and regretted that she had treated him that way. Over the years, Beth's psyche almost returned to normal. She graduated well from high school, trained as a nurse and now works in a hospital.

Demons inside

35-year-old Danielle Harkins looked like a rather ordinary, slightly emotional, but kind teacher who had an excellent relationship with her students. She taught at the Lealman and Asian Neighborhood family center in St. Petersburg, Florida, was in the process of divorce and was fighting for custody of her two young children.

In 2012, the divorce was finalized and it was then that something broke in Harkins' psyche. She developed a fanatical interest in religion, especially angels and demons, and one day when she was spending the night at the house of her fellow teacher, she told her "you are okay, you have no demons."

June 9, 2012 Danielle Harkins invited a group of her students to "sit by the fire" on the beach. The disciples thought it would be an enjoyable vacation, but Harkins instead began accusing them of being infected with demons and needing to expel them.

To do this, Harkins first ordered the students to dance around the fire, singing, and then told them to cut each other with knives "to drive out demons."This already seemed to the students beyond normal and they refused, after which the angry Harkins grabbed one of the teenagers, poured cologne on his palms and set him on fire. Then she stabbed another teenager with a broken bottle, and burned the wounds with a key, which she set on fire.

All of this left the students in a state of shock and some of them began to obey Harkins' orders, attacking other teenagers and inflicting cut wounds on them. After that, all wounds were treated with a hot key.

Only a few days later, the frightened teenagers came to their senses and decided to tell the police about everything. Harkins was arrested, but she refused to say anything. The disciples, too, for some reason, only very briefly recounted what had happened, as if Harkins still had some kind of power over them. Because of this, Harkins received only 6 months in prison, after which she was released.

My dad ate my eyes

In May 2009, 34-year-old Angelo Mendoza Sr. committed a series of nightmarish acts that defy explanation. Presumably he did it due to the effects of drugs, but this is only one of the versions and is not proven by anything. Four years earlier, Mendoza had been paralyzed from the waist down from being stabbed in the back during a fight and had been in a wheelchair.

It happened on April 28th. First, Mendoza himself called the police because he had a fight with the mother of his four-year-old son, Angelo Jr. But when the police arrived, Mendoza's wife was not there, she went to her acquaintances. At home was Mendoza himself and little Angelo, who then looked normal. Therefore, the police soon left the house, finding no reason to initiate a case.

What happened next is difficult to explain. Suddenly Mendoza pounced on his son, ripped out his left eye with his teeth and ate it. Then he wanted to do the same with the boy's right eye, but something prevented him. Most likely that the child managed to escape. The boy was later found hidden behind a large chest of drawers. His pants were wet with urine, he was covered in blood from a wound on his face and unconscious. Fortunately, the doctors managed to preserve the vision in his right eye.

After the attack on the son of Mendoza, he jumped out into the backyard of his house, got out of the chair and chained himself to a tree. All this was noticed by his neighbor and Mendoza began to ask him to "pray to the Sun". After that, Mendoza took an ax and a ceramic plate and began chopping and sawing his legs.

When the police came to Mendoza's house again to call a neighbor, they found little Angelo, who immediately woke up and could only utter "Dad ate my eyes." Mendoza himself immediately stated that they were attacked by the Mexican mafia and it was she who chained him to a tree, tried to chop off his legs and attacked his son.

Mendoza reassured the police that he did not take drugs or drugs with hallucinogens, but said that in recent weeks he has felt severe anxiety and seen things "that do not exist."

Mendoza's friend Gray, who was also disabled, could not believe what had happened. He and Mendoza were allegedly preparing to run a charity wheelchair marathon and he couldn't imagine Mendoza could do that. He also assured that Mendoza did not take drugs or even smoked weed.

"It seems to me that it was done by the monster hiding inside him." Gray said.

Mendoza was initially charged with child abuse and torture, but in 2011 he was declared insane and sent for treatment.
