"This strange" glitch "happened to me about 15-17 years ago, when I first met my girlfriend (she is now my wife). I was a young driver, it was 2004 or 2005 and that makes a difference.

For your information: I was not under the influence of alcohol, drugs or any other legal or illegal means, I was not hungry, I was not under the influence of bad weather, etc.

I was never punctual and was often late for appointments. On that particular evening, I had to go to the cinema with a girl, we agreed to meet at the cinema, but I returned from work too late and therefore I had very little time to change and then drive to the cinema.

I jumped out of the house, jumped into a pack of cars - it was a 1992 Fiat Punto, in those years in the UK novice drivers often used this model because it came with cheap insurance.

I started to turn back to get onto the road, and when I did, I drove along the road much faster. than it should be.

To my surprise, this road was completely empty that evening, which allowed me to go faster than the permitted speed. I looked away from the windshield for a couple of seconds. to turn on the music, and when he looked up again, he saw a figure in the middle of the road, as if it had appeared out of nowhere.

This man raised his hand up, as if slowing me down, and when I drove closer, I realized that it was a policeman and thought, "Oh, damn it!"

I pulled up and stopped on the side of the road, then opened the window and the policeman came up to me and in a stern voice asked me to get out of the car and come to the back of my car. I went out, did as he said, and he started asking where I was going, where I was coming from, how long I had been driving, and so on, quite common questions.

Then he asked why I was speeding, I apologized and explained that I was in a hurry to my girlfriend. This was, of course, a so-so excuse, so I expected that now he would write me a fine.

The policeman pulled out a small notebook and a very tiny pencil from his pocket, flipped through several pages of notes (I did not have time to see what was written there) until he found a blank page.

Then he asked me for the license plate of my car and I told him it, and when he raised his head and looked at the license plate himself, he asked me why it was yellow. I said that he was already like this when I bought the car.

Then he asked me what make my car was, I said Fiat Punto and the policeman said that he had never heard of such a model before, and then wrote its name in his notebook.

Then he put the notebook and pencil into his pocket and only now I noticed something strange with his shape. This was not the uniform worn by our constables in the early 2000s in the UK (as in the left picture below), but something much more old-fashioned, as if from the 1950s or 1960s. He wore the same helmet, emblem and boots (as in the right image below).

The policeman then told me that he would deliver his notes to the station tonight and that he and other officers would monitor me and my speeding. He also said that I should change the license plate back to black. Otherwise, next time I will get a fine for it.

Then he once again warned me and allowed me to continue driving further.

I jumped into the car. buckled up and looked in the rearview mirror as he drove off. I looked ahead for a couple of seconds, and then again in the mirror and … the officer was nowhere to be seen. I could clearly see the entire road behind me and from both sides, it was a straight road, but the policeman seemed to vanish into thin air.

After I got home after the movie, I started thinking about this, about what was strange. At first I thought it was a constable in fancy dress, but his uniform was of a very high quality, clean and ironed. Too much for the usual fancy dress.

Then I began to think about his strange words:

1) Why did he tell me to change my rear license plate from yellow to black? In the UK, since 1973, all rear license plates were required to be reflective yellow. But until 1973, they were black.

2) Why has he never heard of Fiat Punto? In the UK in those years, it was an extremely common car. Any police officer would know that.

I made the assumption that he accidentally came to our time from his time, or it could be the ghost of a policeman who does not realize that he has died and continues his work."
