An Army intelligence director at the 4th Army headquarters in Texas suggested that the strange fireballs could have been "the result of radiological warfare experiments conducted by a foreign power (USSR)."
In 1948, shortly after the "flying saucers" craze began in the United States, reports of a new type of mysterious air phenomenon began to appear frequently: the so-called " green fireballs. "
Among the most notable sightings was an incident over New Mexico in late 1948, reported by crews of both military and civilian aircraft flying on the night of December 5. Both groups of observers compared the object to "a huge meteor, green as grass."
The December 5 incident was not the first time that bright balls of fire lit up the night sky over America. In February of the same year Dr. Lincoln LaPaz, then director of the University of New Mexico's Meteorite Institute, announced a bright nocturnal flash in the night sky over Kansas as a result of an alleged meteor strike.
Later that summer, reports of a huge green ball of fire over Oregon also made headlines after many Oregonians watched a bright meteor that disappeared over the ocean on the night of June 28.
However, objects that were observed in the southeastern United States in December 1948 appeared to behave differently from typical meteorites, a fact that LaPaz noted in a letter he sent to the United States Air Force on December 20.
The following month, the Director of Army Intelligence at the 4th Army Headquarters in Texas suggested that the strange fireballs might have been "the result of radiological warfare experiments conducted by a foreign power (USSR)" and found this possibility "very important, especially since these balls appeared in close proximity to important objects, "therefore, he said, it is necessary to create a scientific council to investigate this issue.
The United States Air Force, and prior to this message, was deeply concerned about the presence of unusual objects flying over the territory of the states, especially after a series of UFO reports received over several weeks after the landmark observation of a group of "flying saucers" by pilot Kenneth Arnold on June 24, 1947 in Washington State Cascade Mountains.
To investigate these sightings, the US Air Force created a Task Force, Project Sign, which conducted the first official investigation into what these objects might be.
In February 1949, a conference was held at Los Alamos, attended by Project Sign researchers, as well as several scientists and other military personnel, to assess the observation of the fireballs. Although this conference did not lead to conclusions as to what could be their source, in December of the following year, a new Project Twinkle was founded.
Meanwhile, observations of flying fireballs, including a strange green color, did not stop and on January 22, 1953, the Santa Fe New Mexican newspaper presented the latest theories of Dr. LaPaz, which still suggested that Russian (Soviet) secret technologies were behind it all. …
“The fireball expert said that today Russia can scout the United States and other parts of the world with new strange guided missiles. type of missiles - possibly Soviet-made, the article said.
Although the mysterious green fireballs are commonly associated with the early years of UFO sightings (1940s-1950s), there have been some notable incidents in the following decades that have also been associated with green balls.
On the night of November 17, 1995, the crews of Lufthansa Flight 405 and British Airways Flight 226 noticed a brightly glowing greenish object flying past them while flying over Long Island, New York.
Some observers described it as something similar to a green projectile that they estimated was flying approximately 3000 feet (914 meters) above and to the left of them.
Peter Davenport of the National UFO Reporting Center gathered additional information about the incident, as well as obtained transcripts of communications between air traffic controllers and pilots observing the green projectile.
Ironically, the transcript showed that the object appeared to have escaped radar detection at the Air Traffic Control Center in nearby Nashua, New Hampshire. Radar did not notice this object at all.
Is it possible that observations of green fireballs over the years represent nothing more than the random, unusual behavior of meteorites burning through our atmosphere? Not so simple. Even Dr. LaPaz, a great specialist in meteorites, immediately questioned whether these objects were meteorites.
However, many UFO researchers have a high degree of doubt that these green balls could be secret Soviet or (in later years) Russian developments. Likewise, the "Unidentified Aerial Phenomena" (UAP) observed over US warships since 2004 could be Russian or Chinese advanced drones.
While logical explanations may exist for green fireballs, their source is still uncertain, making them one of many distinctive and colorful footnotes in the broader history of the long-standing UFO mystery.

In The United States, Found A "mass Grave" Of Animals That Were Killed By A Meteorite That Killed The Dinosaurs
An American paleontologist unearthed in North Dakota a massive "burial" of fish and mammals, which were apparently killed by a colossal tsunami from a meteorite that fell 66 million years ago. This meteorite killed 75% of the living creatures of the Earth, including the cause of the mass extinction of dinosaurs. The trail from this meteorite can be seen even now, it is the Chicxulub crater with a diameter of 180 km in Mexico on the Yucatan Peninsula (paranormal-news.ru). The fallen meteorite shook the surface monstrously
In Ancient Peru, Trepanation Operations Were Done More Skillfully Than In The United States Of The Mid-19th Century
Over the years of excavations in Peru, more than 800 ancient skulls with traces of trepanation (drilling holes in the bones of the skull) have been found. This procedure was not unique either in those centuries or later, but nowhere was it produced as expertly as in Peru. In the course of a new study, the results of which were recently published in the journal "World Neurosurgery", it turned out that the mortality rate after trepanation in ancient Peru was only 17-25%, while during the American Civil War (1861-1865)
The Secret Is Incredible. Why Were Three Secrets Half A Century Ago Classified In Russia For Another 25 Years?
Few people know that half a century ago, a number of events took place in our country, which today would be called real sensations. Moreover, mystical sensations, since from the point of view of the usual human ideas about nature, it is impossible to explain them to this day. In the photo: Dyatlov's group: there are many versions of death, there is no clarity. For this reason, all these incidents were strictly classified for 50 years. So this year, a few researchers were waiting for the removal of the seal of secrecy
In The United States, A Mysterious Paralysis Has Affected Hundreds Of Young Children Over The Years
In Minnesota, six children under the age of ten fell ill with a completely unexplored polio-like disease at once. The disease begins as a mild cold and ends with limp limbs and, in some cases, complete paralysis of the legs or arms. An outbreak was announced in Minnesota on September 20, 2018. The health department also issued a special warning. Doctors diagnosed the sick with acute flaccid myelitis (AFM - acute flaccid myelitis). This is extremely red
